Web app or iPhone app?

Use the same ViewVault account and data in both places. The core tracking experience travels with you, while import and export currently live on the web.

In your browser

Web app

  • Add and search movies and series, then manage Watched, Currently Watching, and Up Next.
  • Rate titles and write personal notes.
  • Filter and sort your lists by title, year, type, genre, date added, and rating.
  • Use the paste-based importer for up to 10 titles per batch.
  • Export Catalog (Watched), Up Next, or Currently Watching as CSV or JSON.
  • Share recommendations and private title or list links.
Open the web app

On iPhone

iPhone app

  • Use the same account, lists, ratings, notes, and recommendations as the web app.
  • Add and search titles, move them between lists, and manage your viewing life on the go.
  • Filter and sort lists, then get For You recommendations based on your ratings.
  • Share a title or list privately with people you choose.
  • Use Face ID on supported iOS builds to help protect your account when you return to the app.
  • Import and export are not currently available in the iPhone app.

Move your data

Import and export, clearly explained.

These tools are currently part of the authenticated web app. The iPhone app does not yet include them.

Import titles on the web

  1. Open Add Title and choose Add Multiple Titles.
  2. Paste up to 10 titles, with one title per line.
  3. Select Look Up to match the titles.
  4. Review each match and choose Watched, Watching, Up Next, or Skip.
  5. Run another batch when you are ready to continue.
Good to know: The importer accepts pasted plain text only. It does not accept CSV or JSON files, uploads, provider-specific history exports, or automatically place every match into one list.

Export lists on the web

  1. Sign in to the web app and open Export.
  2. Choose Catalog (Watched), Up Next, or Currently Watching.
  3. Select CSV for a spreadsheet or JSON for the full list data.
  4. Download the selected list. Each list is exported separately.
Export is available in the web app, not currently in the iPhone app. CSV and JSON exports are for backup or use elsewhere; they cannot currently be pasted back into the importer.
